Read Genesis 50
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." (Genesis 50:20).
Joseph had every reason to be bitter. He had been betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. Yet when he finally stood before the very brothers who had caused him so much pain, he chose forgiveness instead of revenge.
Joseph recognized a truth that transformed his perspective, while people are responsible for their actions, God is able to work through painful circumstances to accomplish His greater purposes. Joseph did not deny the reality of the harm done to him, but he also refused to let that harm define the end of his story.
Genesis 50 reminds us that God's plans often unfold over years rather than days. What seems like a setback today may become part of God's provision tomorrow. We may not always understand why difficult seasons come, but we can trust that God sees the entire picture when we can only see one chapter.
Forgiveness is another powerful theme in this chapter. Joseph's forgiveness did not erase the past, but it broke the cycle of bitterness and opened the way for healing within his family. As followers of God, we are called to trust His justice and extend grace, even when it is difficult.
Thank God for being faithful throughout every season of our lives and even when something bad happens to us, He is planning something better, even when we can't see the outcome.
