"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." — Galatians 5:16 Freedom is one of the greatest gifts Christ offers. Yet freedom in Him doesn't mean doing whatever we want; it means being free from the power of sin and free to become the people God created us to be.
In Galatians 5, Paul encourages believers not to return to a life of legalism or to use their freedom as an excuse for selfishness. Instead, he points us to a better way: living by the Holy Spirit. Every day we face a choice between following our sinful nature or surrendering to the Spirit's leading.
The contrast is clear. The works of the flesh produce division, jealousy, anger, selfish ambition, and impurity. But when we stay connected to Christ, the Holy Spirit grows something great within us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities aren't manufactured through works—they are the natural result of a life rooted in Jesus.
Walking by the Spirit is a daily decision. It means inviting God into our conversations, choices, attitudes, and relationships. Some days the growth feels slow, but God is faithfully shaping us from the inside out. The fruit may begin as small seeds, but over time they become evidence of His transforming work.
Questions To Ask
What fruit is my life producing? Are my words and actions reflecting the Spirit's work, or am I relying on my own strength? God doesn't call us to perfection overnight. He calls us to walk with Him, one step at a time, trusting that His Spirit will finish the work He has begun.
